Great News!!

It's Ben here. I interviewed for a job with Chevron's Energy Technology Company the first week of February, and have been anxiously awaiting their decision. They said we would know at the end of the month. True to their word, they waited until the 28th. So I was working in the lab at school, and Allison called and reminded me that I needed to check my e-mail. We thought we'd get a phone call, but when I opened my e-mail, there was one from Chevron with the title:
Chevron Offer of Employment to Benjamin Wischmeier
Needless to say, I was ecstatic! I was also going to be seeing Allison in about 10 minutes to catch the bus over to campus to take McConnell to an appointment at the Medical Center, so I told her at the bus stop, right before we got on that they had made me an offer (bad timing, I know). She was really excited, and started tearing up right there on the bus.

After the appointment we went to my department computer lab and got the rest of the information (location, pay, moving details, etc.).
So Laurel and Nick, we'll be heading to Houston sometime near the first of July, I think. They haven't given me a start date yet, but I won't graduate until mid-June, so I assume they want me to start some time after that...

Anyway, we're absolutely excited to finally get out of being in an apartment, to go house-hunting and have some space to live in where our kids can play in a back yard and not in a parking garage.

We'll keep you all posted on the details as they come, but we're definitely taking the offer - it's almost too good to refuse.

We love you guys!!

Update

Hey everyone,
I just got sick of doing finance and accounting and decided I would check this out. I was thinking that it will be nice to graduate and get paid to work rather than pay BYU so I can work. Anyway, I guess I will give a little update. In April I will be graduating in Business with an emphasis in Finance from BYU. Then a week after I graduate I will be jumping on a plane and flying to Brussels for an internship. I know I told some of you a little about it but in case you don’t know it is basically my dream internship.

The European Parliament is in Brussels and consequently so are delegations from member countries of the EU. I will be working with the Czech delegation to the EU which is housed in the same building as the Czech embassy. The delegation is responsible to prep and host Czech politicians who come to Brussels for meetings in Parliament as well as promote Czech businesses and relations throughout Europe.

I am not sure exactly what I will be doing but I have been told that I would be working with Czech politicians probably helping to brief them on events in Parliament. Also, because I speak Czech they want to use me to travel back and forth between Brussels and the Czech Republic. My dad put it best after I told him about the internship, “Now, they know you are from Oak City right?” I am really excited about working over there and feel like it is a great opportunity.

I guess that’s my update. I would love to hear how everybody else is doing.

Gabriel's Glorious Day!

I know I shouldn't brag too much about how beautiful it is in Southern California, but I can't help myself.  Believe it or not, it does get cold and cloudy here in the winter, so when it's this beautiful you really enjoy it.  Question -- did any of you watch American Idol last night?  I'm house sitting for my boss and so I get to enjoy the luxury of television... no cable at my house!  Anyway, the last guy that sang is 17 years old and from Murray, Utah.  I haven't been that impressed or moved by anyone that's ever sung on that show.  All the judges were saying that he's the one to beat in the competition. If you watch the show, vote for him, he was awesome!

My Bro Hyrum!

Greetings from Venice Beach!  I hope that everyone is happy and healthy.  With Hyrum's MTC date quickly approaching I just wanted to say a few things about him.  I am so proud of Hyrum and the man that he's becoming.  He's 19 years old and has already accomplished so much.  Two time Student Body President, Lead singer of "Chess Club Dropouts", Choir and Musical Theatre Phenom (currently he's in South Pacific), Eagle Scout... Hyrum is a graduate of both Basic and Advanced Training for the US Army.  Before Hyrum left to go to Basic, he knew how important it was to be physically fit, so he began training himself, running and exercising. While at Basic Training he was a part of the Elite Running Group, he would lead off running everyday.  Also, because of his Eagle Scout Award, Hyrum entered the Military a rank higher then others. Hyrum has been able to do some traveling, which I know he really loves.  He's visited me in both New York City and down here in LA.  Last month he spent a week in Hawaii, which I know he really enjoyed.  Hyrum has always been an outstanding young man, Everyone Loves Hyrum
--Everyone -- All the kids at school, his teachers, everyone at church and in the community... Hyrum is the person that has completed our family.  When we were little, Jess, Ben, James and I begged my parents to have Hyrum.  Hyrum has so many dreams and things that he wants to accomplish in life.  It's been so wonderful to talk with him about these things.  I've always said that I'm supposed to tred the way through this chaos of an Actors life, so that it will be easier for Hyrum to do.  The rest of you probably don't know that Hyrum is quite a film buff.  He and Mom used to have Hitchcock movie marathons.  Hyrum also was very moved by "Band of Brothers" and I know that those films were a huge influence in his decision to join the service. One of my favorite memories of Hyrum was watching him create his own movies with our ancient video camera and all of his little Playmobil/Lego guys.  Hyrum is destined for great things and I know that the people in his mission and the other missionaries will be greatly blessed by being able to Serve with Him and Know Him and Have Him in their lives.  I love you Spud!!
Hyrum's phone number is 406.381.5186

Summer weather

Well for all you snow bunnies. Houston has been 80 today and suppose to be in the 80's tomorrow. I am so in the mood to swim, but the pool isn't heated, so I might wait a month or so. Well sorry that you all will be getting snow until then. Anyway, I hope you all have a good week. Come on people spread the word to your other family members to join in on the blogging fun. Well, love you all

Okay, Family, This is a great idea and it looks like it will work alot better than the other one. The main problem is the learning curve for us old-timers. I've never blogged before and it's a bit confusing to me when you have several different strings of conversation going, but I might figure it out eventually.

Congratulations to Hyrum on nearing the MTC date!!! Very exciting.

Just so everyone will feel sorry for me . . . I've had to scrape my windshield almost every morning for the month of January. I haven't had a window scraper, so I've been using a credit card and it's almost worn out!! I almost broke down and bought one, but now I don't need it anymore. . . unless I decide to go up north where all you other poor folks have been slogging through snow all winter. . . . I can't say that I've missed it. No, not one little bit.

Great Idea!!

My girlfriend Jen has been trying to get me to start a blog forever and I keep telling her I refuse. I guess I have kind of given in now, haven't I?! This is such a great idea! Thanks to Aunt Deanne and Laurel for getting it up and running. I have really enjoyed reading Laurel's blog and it is going to be so awesome be able to keep up with everyone this way!
As for Scott and I, we are doing great. We just had our 13 week appointment and everything sounds great with the baby. Our next appointment is March 14th and my Dr. told me that we would be able to find out then what we are having. Yay! Other than that, we haven't really been doing much more than trying to incubate a baby! We are going to Costa Rica next month, so I will definitely post some pictures when we get back. I hope everyone is doing well and we love you all! Can't wait to hear from everyone!!!
Love-
Faeth and Scott

Have Fun

So I know it's only been a day since I set this up for everyone, but please just play and have fun. Allison thank you for jumping on so quickly. I don't know for sure how to add everyone, but you can sign on under my name and post pictures and fun things if we don't figure out how to add. Or maybe Allison can help us too. Speaking of the Washington Wischmeiers, are you moving to Texas? And if so what part. We are here in Houston and are loving it so far, but that is because my mom hasn't left yet hehe. Well good luck everyone. I hope you all have fun being bloggers!!!

Okay so have fun with this, add as much fun stuff as you want. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have enjoyed mine. Love you all and I look forward to seeing what this family can produce. Love Laurel
