Pismo Beach Seestor's Retreat!

The Seestor's Retreat was held July 8th-12th in Pismo Beach California.  Maureen was a very wonderful hostess!  Sunday when we arrived, she and Kevin had prepared a delicious barbeque. We stayed at their trailer by the dunes two nights.  We walked across the dunes to the beach, up the beach and home through town (we figured about a 6 mile walk in all). We bought fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries right from the field. We toured old Arroyo Grande and had dinner at a fun Italian restaurant. We had lunch on the beach. We stayed at the Pismo Beach Lighthouse Suites hotel for two nights.  We walked to Pismo pier, saw dolphins, pelicans, an otter and some surfers. Toured the town of Pismo Beach and had dinner at the Ventana Grill.  We did a lot of visiting, exchanged gifts, watched a movie, sat in the hot tub and just relaxed.  It is great having your sister's as your best friends.  Love you Seestor's!  Please enjoy some of our pictures!

Big News!

Hello family, I have some big news…Lindsey and I got married on July 9th in Chicago! We took off the next day to St. Thomas in the Virgin Islands for our honeymoon. I’ve attached some photos from the trip including one from our hotel room view and one from the sail boat we spent a day on. There is also one from one of the "safari" taxis we took to get around. Basically a pick up truck with benches in the back and a canopy over the top. Jump on jump off, 2 bucks a person, super dangerous, and a great way to get around and see the island. I was planning on renting a motorcycle for the week, but when I saw how people drove, the mountain roads, driving on the left side of the road, and the fact that everybody told me it was way too dangerous, I opted to take the safari taxis.  Lindsey has most of the pictures from the wedding and honeymoon, so I’ll have to get those.

The only sad part of the trip was when Lindsey got on a plane to Chicago and I got on one to New York. We’ve still got some things to work out with the courts before we can get her and Parker out here. In the meantime, I am a married man, living in a bachelor pad with my roommate.

Lindsey is a SICU nurse at Northwestern in Chicago and has some good opportunities for nursing positions out here. We’re looking forward to getting her and Parker to NYC. It took me 29 years to find her but it was well worth the wait. She is an amazing woman and I am totally in love with her. I didn't know if I was ever going to want to be a family man, and now I want nothing more than for us to all be together.

We still need to get plans finalized but we’re hoping to have an open house in Utah during the Christmas break. Due to my work schedule, we can’t really come out before then. We’ll send out announcement/invitations when we figure out the date.

Hope everyone is well and I look forward to seeing you in December!

I must be crazy!

Trevor, Jason, and I have been keeping a secret for the last little while. I feel like it's time to spill the beans to my family. We will be welcoming another Jones to the family on or around January 18, 2013. I am currently a little over 9 weeks along. Last week, we were able to see and hear a heart beat. Morning sickness and tiredness have been in full swing. So far, I haven't been as sick as I was with Jason, but there is still time. I am feeling very nervous about having another child to take care of, but I think I can do it. Jason has been doing pretty well in the behavior department lately. Hopefully, he keeps it up! Well, I hope you enjoy our good news. We love you all!

A Little Love!

I just wanted to give Hyrum and his Crew a little love for all the great things they are doing at 732!  The yard and house are looking FANTASTIC!!!  Grandpa sure is lucky to have a grandson who lives close and is willing to work so hard on the house.  Thanks for taking care of the house that 4 generations have called home at one time or another.  I love you Spud and can't wait to see the finished product.

Dearer than any other!
Listen I'll whisper the name to you,
It is the name of Mother!
I am so grateful to have had a mom who made the name Mother
dearer than any other.
I love you Mom,  Happy Mothers day!
Happy Mothers day to all my sisters and nieces and nephews wives

I decided I need to show some pictures and tell a bit about where Dale and I live. It's a place that, until about a month before we moved here, I never knew existed. We are right on the Texas-Mexico border. The town of Presidio is one of the oldest, continuously inhabited settlements in the U.S. There is a sign when you come into town that says it was established in 1683. It has been several different things but mostly, as the name implies, a military outpost. It is far off the beaten path. There is only one fast food place: Subway. No public swimming pool (and it gets up to 115 in the summer), no Walmart, Kmart, or Costco. In fact the closest Walmart is 2 1/2 hrs away. No pharmacy, no mall, no movie theater. There is lots of dirt, though, and very little grass. There are, however, some very nice people, and the school kids are polite and well-mannered. They can be bratty like anywhere else (after all, I work in the Middle School).

If you had asked me before we came here if I ever thought I would find myself in a place like this, I would have answered with an emphatic "NO". Dale feels the same way. Having been here for about 10 months, though, we can both say we are happy we are here.

I am going to post 2 pictures now and later on will probably put a longer post and more pics on our personal blog. The first picture is of the old Catholic Church in town. It is around 300 years old, I've read this and also been told by the locals. The second picture is of my cute husband, Dale, standing in the Rio Grande.

The Toko Tot

I know we are trying to revive the family blog, so I thought I would post pictures of the newest family member.  Marley Valeti Toko was born April 5, 2012.  She weighed 7 lbs 14 oz and was 20 1/2 inches long!  Everything went well with the delivery and she is such a good baby!  Now for the pictures!

We will be blessing Marley on May 27 in Cedar City.  Church is at 1:00 and all are invited.  Please let me know if you will be able to make it!  We love you all!!!

Old People Alert!!

Dale and I try to tell ourselves that we are still pretty young, at least young at heart, but an incident happened the other day that convinced us that maybe we are getting along in age . . . .

We were in El Paso because I had a minor surgical procedure. The next day, we had stopped at a convenience store to get some snacks. As we were paying, the young man at the counter was just making conversation and asked us if we were traveling. Dale proceeded to explain to him that, no, we were here because, "my wife just had surgery and that we live four hours away. We do come to El Paso frequently, though, to go to the Doctor, get prescriptions, and then before we go home, we go to Walmart and Costco". As my dear sweet husband kept talking, I felt the urge to poke him in the ribs so he would stop making us sound like old people, but, too late. . . the young man's eyes had glazed over with boredom by this time. As we walked out the door, Dale said, "I think I just made us sound like old people, didn't I?" I had to agree with him.
So, from now on, we need to have a ready-made story to tell people such as, "Yes, we come here because we like to hit the clubs and go dancing."

Seestors' Conference Call

Yesterday evening we Seestors had a conference call to plan our Seestors' Retreat. I have to say what a blessing it is to have the modern capabilities of keeping in touch such as being able to visit with my sisters via conference call. We talked about how fast email is compared to regular mail, and then Bonnie compared it to texting and Twitter (I'm still not sure what that is) and how immediate that form of staying in touch is. Anyway, just wanted to mention that.

Maureen talked about being a little disappointed that more posting isn't being done on the family blog. I think it's because everyone has their own blog, but I hope we don't let it dwindle away. Facebook is great, but the Family blog is better for talking about things that concern only our family. . . . . Just sayin' "somebody post on here once in awhile, will ya?"

Down with the Osmonds.

Hi Everyone!  So, this is totally random, but I had to get on and tell you this.  I got a new job and one of the people I work with is... (wait for it!!!)  AN OSMOND!!!!!   I can't be the only person in our family who remembers yelling "Down with the Osmonds, Up with more fireworks!" as we left Stadium of Fire, lo those many years ago. Right?  Please tell me some of you remember it, too.  I think Sarah was just a baby when this happened so that would leave a lot of you out of this story, but it is kind of family lore at this point.  So anyway, I tell Dave (Osmond) the story about our fireworks disappointment and he responds with "oh, I think that was just about the time my Dad started beating me."  Maybe you had to be there, but it was really funny.  Anyway, I just wanted to let you all know that I have finally been able to let the Osmond's know about how disappointed we were with their performance back in 1980 something.

PS- Congrats, April and Lindon!  Can't wait to see pics of the baby!  Hint, Hint.
